Brown noise is a "color" of broadband sound that contains a wide range of frequencies that the human ear can hear. It joins a family of colors -- pink, white, blue noise, grey noise -- that all have been proven to have a variety of benefits, such as focus during studying, deeper sleeping, calmer meditations.
In comparison to the other colors, Brown noise employs lower frequencies, which are thought to have a grounding and stabilizing effect on the mind and body. So while the other noises use higher frequencies that make them sound a little like radio static, brown noise's deeper, lower frequencies give it a more rich, bellowing, rumbling sound.
I listen to brown noise every day, whether it be for relaxation, focus, or sleep. Hang out with me while I talk about some of my favorite lifehacks.
